Strawberry Agua Fresca (Printable)

A bright blend of fresh strawberries, lime, and a hint of sugar, strained and served chilled for warm afternoons.

# Ingredient List:

→ Fruit

01 - 2 cups fresh strawberries, hulled and halved

→ Citrus

02 - 1/3 cup freshly squeezed lime juice (about 2–3 limes)

→ Sweetener

03 - 1/4 cup granulated sugar (adjust to taste)

→ Liquid

04 - 3 cups cold water

→ Garnish (optional)

05 - Lime slices
06 - Fresh mint leaves
07 - Extra strawberries, sliced

# How to Make:

01 - Place the strawberries, lime juice, sugar and 1 cup of cold water in a blender. Purée until uniformly smooth.
02 - Pass the purée through a fine-mesh strainer into a large pitcher, using the back of a spoon to press and extract as much liquid as possible; discard the solids.
03 - Add the remaining 2 cups of cold water to the pitcher and stir thoroughly to integrate the flavors.
04 - Taste and adjust sweetness or acidity by adding more sugar or lime juice in small increments until balanced.
05 - Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to chill or serve immediately over ice for optimal refreshment.
06 - Ladle into glasses and garnish with lime slices, mint leaves or sliced strawberries as desired.

# Expert Tips:

01 -
  • It tastes like a sun-drenched picnic in every glass, but comes together in minutes.
  • Adjusting the sweetness means you can make it exactly how you (or your favorite people) like it.
02 -
  • Don’t skip tasting before serving—I once blindly followed the recipe and it was way too tart for my crew.
  • Blending longer than you think makes a creamy texture that skips the gritty bits I used to end up with.
03 -
  • Letting the blended mixture rest for five minutes before straining brings out more juice from the pulp—just discovered that last year.
  • If you chill your glasses in the freezer first, the drink stays colder and somehow sweeter—I’m convinced it makes a difference.
