Decadent layers of creamy peanut butter and chocolate cake topped with gooey peanut butter cups for an irresistible dessert.

# Ingredient List:

→ Cake Base

01 - 1 box (15.25 oz) devils food chocolate cake mix
02 - 1 cup creamy peanut butter, room temperature
03 - ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
04 - 1½ cups whole milk

→ Toppings

05 - 1 cup mini peanut butter cups, unwrapped
06 - ½ cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

# How to Make:

01 - Preheat oven to 350°F. Lightly grease a 9x13-inch baking dish with nonstick spray or butter.
02 - Spread the creamy peanut butter evenly over the bottom of the prepared baking dish.
03 - In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the chocolate cake mix, melted butter, and milk until the batter is mostly smooth (some small lumps are fine).
04 - Pour the cake batter evenly over the peanut butter layer in the baking dish.
05 - Scatter the mini peanut butter cups and chocolate chips evenly over the top of the batter.
06 - Bake for 35–40 minutes, or until the cake is set and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out mostly clean (a few moist crumbs are fine).
07 - Remove from oven and let cool for at least 15 minutes before serving warm. For cleaner slices, allow to cool completely. Serve as is or with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

# Expert Tips:

01 -
  • The peanut butter layer sinks through the cake while baking, creating this incredible gooey ribbon that tastes like a peanut butter cup met a chocolate cake and fell in love
  • You can throw this together in under ten minutes flat, which means you are always forty five minutes away from chocolate peanut butter heaven no matter how chaotic your day has been
02 -
  • The peanut butter layer will seem like too much when you are spreading it, but trust the process because it creates those incredible gooey ribbons throughout the finished cake
  • This dessert is at its absolute best served warm, so if you are taking it somewhere, bake it there or pop it in the oven for ten minutes before serving
03 -
  • Room temperature ingredients are non negotiable here because cold peanut butter will tear and cold milk will create tiny lumps that never fully dissolve in the batter
  • Do not overmix the batter or the cake will become tough and dense instead of tender and moist, so stop whisking as soon as the dry ingredients are incorporated
